Week 7 Work

Massing elements on the cross

Second iteration of the cross

The additional mass is added to the previous cross structure after careful consideration of the area required for each facility included in the structure. The workshop and the lecture hall would have similar sizes due to a predicted diminishment in lecture significance in the future. They will both be located on the first level of the bridge as it would be inconvenient to transport heavy machinery at higher levels. The gallery would take up the majority of the spaces at this level as this level would have the densest pedestrian movement.

The second level would be reserved for student use, where studio and meeting rooms are located. The third level would be for staff use, where research work can be conducted furthest away from the pedestrian movement.

New theory

Natural light through undulating structure affects spatiality, ambiance and typology of a designated location.

Key words:

  1. Spatiality
  2. Natural light
  3. Undulated
  4. Ambiance
  5. Typology

These images included in the articles demonstrate the significance of light in altering the atmosphere of the building, making them resembling nothing like the sensation of an airport.
